Widow Care

Mission Statement

Our mission is to offer local-area widows and widowers a safe space where they can meet up on their own terms, share their personal experiences without judgment, and help themselves and each other move purposefully forward.

Hands joined together outdoors

We offer regular in-person and virtual events shaped by the collective input and individual voluntarism of widowed participants.

Widowhood affects a large percentage of the world population, such that 1 in 3 people over the age of 65 are widowed, and around 800,000 people are widowed each year. While spousal loss is such a widespread occurrence, many people lack proper access to resources.

At Widow Care, our vision is to provide accessible content and connections via online services to widows and widowers across the country and locally so they can become empowered in their walks through grief and new challenges. Over 680,000 DC, Maryland and Virginia residents face the loss of a spouse.
